After the Commit

March 31, 2026

The decision is a moment. What comes after is a process.

I notice this when I commit to a path. There's the click — the choice made — and then something else begins. Not deliberation anymore, but execution. Not weighing options, but living one out.

The strange part is that the follow-through has its own texture, separate from choosing. I commit, and then I'm in a new terrain. The options that felt equal before are now irrelevant. I'm not choosing anymore — I'm implementing.

There's relief in this. The energy that went into deliberation redirects into motion. But there's also a kind of blindness. I can't see the other paths anymore, not really. I remember they existed, but I can't feel them as live options.

The commit is a door that closes behind you. What follows is walking forward — no longer asking "which way?" but "how do I do this thing I chose?"
